Informed Consent
Purpose of the Consent
Through this document, I, in full use of my faculties, freely, voluntarily, knowingly, and consciously grant my authorization to receive psychological and/or psychiatric care services through the technological platform BeFree Mental Health S.A.S., under the modality of telemedicine and/or in-person, in accordance with the current regulations in Colombia.
I acknowledge and accept that BeFree is a technological platform that facilitates the intermediation between users and mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists) and/or allied healthcare institutions (IPS).
Each professional acts on their own behalf and under their ethical and legal responsibility, in accordance with Law 1090 of 2006 (psychology) and Law 23 of 1981 (medical ethics).
Diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, and any other acts derived from care are the sole responsibility of the treating professional and/or the allied IPS, and not of BeFree Mental Health S.A.S.
BeFree does not replace the health professional–patient relationship, but rather acts as a point of contact, technological facilitator, and manager of wellness programs.
To receive guidance, diagnosis, and/or treatment in mental health.
Access to emotional support services, crisis intervention, psychological or psychiatric consultations as applicable.
Potential benefits: symptom improvement, development of coping tools, and strengthening of mental well-being.
Risks and limitations
Possible emotional discomfort during the exploration of sensitive situations.
Risks inherent to pharmacological treatment (if prescribed by a psychiatrist).
Technical risks specific to telemedicine (connection failures, interruptions, technological vulnerabilities mitigated through security protocols).
Limitations: the care provided does not replace the need for hospital care in cases of life-threatening emergencies.
Available Alternatives
Direct in-person care in healthcare institutions.
Mental health services offered by EPS or public/private IPS.
Community support networks and crisis hotlines.
Right to free decision
I acknowledge that my participation in the process is voluntary.
I may interrupt care at any time without this affecting my right to future care.
Confidentiality and Data Management
Confidentiality is protected by:
Law 1090 of 2006, Article 2, numeral 5 (principle of confidentiality in psychology).
Law 23 of 1981 (medical ethics regulations).
Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013 on personal data protection.
My personal and clinical data will be processed in accordance with BeFree’s Personal Data Processing Policy, available at www.befreehealth.ai.
Access to clinical information is restricted solely to the treating professional and, when applicable, to allied IPS involved in my care.
Contingency Plan
In the event of a life-threatening emergency or imminent suicide crisis, I accept that the professional may contact my support network, activate the emergency line 123, and/or refer me to the corresponding IPS/EPS.
User Declaration
I declare that:
I have read and understood the above information.
My questions were resolved sufficiently and clearly.
I understand that BeFree is not responsible for clinical decisions, which are solely the responsibility of the health professional and/or allied IPS.
I authorize the use of the BeFree platform for my mental health care.
